A magnetic interface for transport

Power. Data.
Within reach.

MagOrbis brings a circular magnetic connection to equipment on board. Two contacts for power. Four to add signal paths. A common interface for a family of interchangeable accessories.

01 / The interface

A socket becomes a point of connection.

MagOrbis began as an alternative to the cigarette lighter socket. The broader idea is a network of compatible connection points: equipment stays installed, while accessories and controls move to where they are needed.

01

No angular alignment

The centre and concentric rings keep the contact arrangement the same at every mating angle. Power polarity follows the geometry.

02

Magnetic mating

The magnet attracts the plug; a recessed guide limits sideways movement. The concept needs no twist-to-lock mechanism.

03

A family of modules

Charging, a removable control or a diagnostic adapter can share a physical interface, with electronics matched to each task.

02 / 2P / 4P

Power at the core. Room for signals.

Two more contacts. More possibilities.

The four-contact version adds two concentric signal rings between the power contacts. It is the foundation for connected accessories and removable controls.

Power + two signal paths

A central positive contact, an outer negative ring and two signal rings, D1 and D2. The application determines the protocol and interface electronics.

The patent provides for power compatibility between 2P and 4P. Signal functions require a matched 4P system; the connector alone does not implement CAN, USB or an authentication protocol.

03 / Applications

Connect where the task takes you.

Three directions for the platform. The following scenarios describe systems to develop with equipment manufacturers and integration partners.

01 / Automotive

A familiar place. A new role.

A MagOrbis point in the usual accessory-socket location could bring power, service access and removable modules into easy reach.

Diagnostic access
Connect a compatible diagnostic adapter through a pre-installed gateway, without searching for the vehicle bus behind the dashboard.
Removable key module
A magnetic token could provide the physical interface for driver authentication and vehicle start authorization.
Additional equipment
Connect a charging module, display or accessory designed for the vehicle’s MagOrbis system.

Diagnostics requires a vehicle-specific gateway. A key module requires secure authentication and integration with the vehicle’s start system.

02 / Yachts

The radio stays. The handset moves.

Keep the main radio unit in a protected location and bring compatible connection points to different stations around the yacht.

A movable radio handset
Disconnect the handset at one station and reconnect it at another, using an active interface designed for the radio.
Navigation where it is needed
Move an auxiliary display or tablet between compatible stations with the power and data interface it needs.
Shared connection points
Plan a family of matching sockets for removable controls, sensors and other on-board accessories.

An active radio interface must carry audio and control over the chosen signal link. Moisture, corrosion and exposed-deck installation require separate validation.

03 / Light aviation

Equipment within the pilot’s reach.

The same modular idea extends to light aircraft: convenient connection points near the pilot for removable auxiliary equipment.

A pilot’s tablet
A compact power connection for an auxiliary tablet, with a converter and mount selected for the installation.
Auxiliary controls
Explore removable control panels and communication accessories through a dedicated interface.
Maintenance access
Consider an accessible service connection for compatible auxiliary systems during maintenance on the ground.

An application concept, not an approved aviation product. Aircraft integration, interference and installation approval must be assessed for each system.

04 / Development

From patented geometry to working systems.

MagOrbis is at the engineering development stage. The next step is to validate the connector, then develop the electronics and installation for each application.

  1. 01Foundation

    Patent & engineering brief

Published connector geometry and a preliminary technical package for prototype development.

  2. 02Next step

    Prototype & measurements

Validate contact resistance, heating, mating force, durability and behaviour during connection.

  3. 03With partners

    Modules & integration

Develop matched 4P interfaces and application modules, then test complete systems in their intended environment.
